Global Development August Meetup

Please join us on Tuesday, August 7th at 6:00pm for our August Meetup: a screening of "Bombay Jungle," one of six films in the Dollar a Day series by EMF Films about global poverty.

"Bombay Jungle" is filmed in the slums of Mumbai and focuses on Kurshida Bano, who lives in a shantytown on the edge of a national park. She is confronted by the High Court that rules that the national park needs to be protected and orders eviction for over 80,000 families. After the government has tried to evict her with bulldozers, Khurshida is fighting for the survival of her family against all bureaucratic odds. What rights does she have and how can she execute them?

Join us at 6:00pm for snacks and networking. The film will begin promptly at 6:30pm (running time is approximately one hour) and will be followed by an informal discussion, moderated byCGD research assistant Sami Bazzi.
