Estimated attendance:  17  people attended.

For May's Meetup, we'll continue our screenings and discussion of the Dollar a Day series, which focuses on reducing poverty. We'll meet at 6pm for informal networking (and snacks!) and then screen the film "The Strongest Link" at 6:30pm, with discussion to follow led by Michael Bernstein, Program Coordinator of the HIV/AIDS Monitor at the Center for Global Development.

"The Strongest Link" was filmed in the shanty towns of South Africa and shows how Access to Healthcare can make a real difference in the future of a family. Bulewla Cima, a young woman with AIDS seeks to keep the disease from spreading to her unborn child. While government healthcare plans are slowly being implemented, the boundaries of the healthcare system fall far short of the needs in the townships and Bulewa courageously works to educate others in the community on AIDS prevention and counsels other women suffering with the disease.

Hope you can join us! Feel free to bring relevant materials to share with the group. We look forward to seeing you on the 16th.

Cheers
Tony Kopetchny & Heather Haines
