Thinking of changing careers? Or just looking to meet some people who work in the same field?

Come join YPIA for its first ever Networking Happy Hour. There will be tables set up for different fields: Government, NGO/Development, Think Tanks, Private Sector, etc. Each table will have a designated expert young professional who can answer any questions you have or for you just to network and exchange business cards!

While networking enjoy some drink specials and food at James Hoban's Irish Restaurant and Pub.

Mark J. Biedlingmaier, a career member of the Foreign Service, effective October 2008, he will assume charge as Chief of Staff for American Embassy Baghdad.

Joshua Emmanuel Lagos is a Foreign Service officer for the USDA/Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).

NGO/Development

Jessie Tannenbaum is a legal fellow at the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, a quasi-judicial body of the Organization of American States which hears cases of alleged human rights violations committed by the 35 OAS Member States.

Ms. Ismene Zarifis is a human rights specialist with the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington, D.C since 2005, and where she is desk officer for Haiti, Jamaica, Barbados and coordinates the work of the Rapporteurship on Afrodescendents and against Racial Discrimination.

Laura Dillon-Binkley is an international development professional with over eleven years experience in anti-corruption, demobilization and reintegration, and trade and investment.

Think Tanks

Christopher Griffin is a research fellow in Asian studies at AEI, where he studies competing strategies among the great powers for influence in Southeast Asia, the U.S.-Japanese alliance, and defense-industrial cooperation in the Asia Pacific.

Private Sector/Contracting

Jon Ladewig works for L-3 Communication?s Global Security and Engineering Solutions as a systems analyst. Jon presently supports BAE System?s contract with the US Navy?s Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)-Combat System Integration Office.
